RE: 3rd Annual NY HTT Rally July 31 - August 2, 2009.

Yeah, I'm still here too. Just been so darn busy. (just like everyone else I suspect). Anyway, thought I'd just drop a quick line. Today we celebrated Karenza's 7th birthday with a very LOUD party. All that sugar from trick-or-treating must still be in their systems. hehe. Tomorrow the ROO gets injected with the pink stuff and then off to the storage warehouse for her hibernation on Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm gonna miss not seeing her parked in the driveway but I'll be happy to have the extra space and knowing she'll be nice and safe ! ! !

I know ROBOCOP just loves his 21SS. Deep down though, I know his heart is really with the 23SS :B.

RE: Redneck bank loan

I've run into more than one person who wears work clothing, and drives an old but reliable car, and later found out they were rich. When someone asked them why do they dress cheaply and drive an old car when they could have anything they want, the answer was always, "How do you think I got this rich?".
Money in the bank is just a number! Some, I guess, find happiness with a bigger number, others find it spending it on toys and others find happiness without money ! !
BTW, a very cute joke, thanks for posting!

RE: 3rd Annual NY HTT Rally July 31 - August 2, 2009.

How the heck is everyone??
SJones37, why have you not booked a site yet? C'mon, brother....
Frank, how's the Eagles doing?
Robocop, train Max well. Perhaps you can train him to sniff out beer, so if we run out, he can find us more! :S
Zippy, are you still clownin' around? How's Michael's back doing?
Hey Cranes, is your camping season over for this year? All winterized?
Dave (techno-Dave), how's the dish running? Hopefully all is well.
Take care for now...... Rosie and I have been busy getting ready for Algonquin Park. We leave Saturday for 8 nights.... possibly our last outing, but I'd like to get out for a weekend in October too. There will be 5 families going in total (almost like a mini-Rally, I guess), H2OGUY included! Anyway, should be a blast. This is (like always) my most anticipated trip of the year. Other than the NY HTT Rally, of course! :R
I chime in before we head out. We certainly won't have any WiFi up there. The moose and bears don't seem to need internet!

RE: Awning

I had a slight rip in my slide topper awning and I used "awning repair tape". It has still held up to this day (2 years now) with no issues. That stuff is REALLY sticky ! !

RE: Introduction

Emma, welcome to you and your little sister!
I think bikendan's comment "i'm sorry to hear of her huge loss.
but i have great admiration that she is willing to continue something her husband and her loved and to give their children the same experience." says it all. Well said, Dan!
We'll be here to hopefully answer any questions you (or she) may have!

RE: new member intro

Hi everyone,
thanks to all for the warm welcome. Mark, I'll keep the Bainbridge Rally in mind--I see the first one was at Sampson SP near where we live (Finger Lakes). We'll likely camp at Sampson for our inaugural trip.
Currently making our list of the basics for outfitting the camper, and we'll keep you all posted from time to time on how we're doing.
Again, thanks for the welcome!
Jim T.
Jim, sounds good ! ! Yeah, Sampson SP was a great place. If you've got little ones, the playground is second to none! I absolutely love the Finger Lakes Region. We've camped at Watkins Glen, Keuka Lake and Sampson State Parks.... very impressed with all of them.
Hope to see you at Tall Pines ! ! !

RE: when do you HAVE to winterize?

I agree with risingsun, I'd blow out the lines with compressed air, and I'd be pretty confident with just doing that. Maybe some antifreeze down the drains to take care of the traps! You'd need a sustained low temperature to cause worries! Key word "sustained". JMO. Good luck.
Robocop and xplrn, both just blew out their lines last winter and had no problems ! ! xplrn, lives here in the Great White North and well Robocop lives "down south" :W of here! ! I'm tempted to try that out this year,(not sure if I've got the guts to do it) but really, the winterizing process isn't that involved. Drain the fresh water tank and open up low point valves, turn valve to by-pass water heater and remove anode/plug, blow out lines with compressed air, (I also by-pass my water filter housing with a homemade hose with fittings- otherwise it'd take half-a-gallon or so). Hook up filling hose, turn the pump on and open up all plumbing fixtures one at a time to ensure antifreeze is present, pour some down each drain and that's it ! ! !
Good luck, Mark.

RE: Slip on mirrors

I used them with my 2003 Avalanche, there is slight vibration at hwy speeds, but for the most part, they work well!
BTW, I have factory "camper mirrors" with my 2008 Avalanche and still have my slip-ons, if you're up this way, bring a case of Yuengling Lager and they're yours ! ! ! ! :W

RE: New Roo/Shamrock Floor Plans

It looks like you lose the Wardrobe and the TV Shelf. The heater was under the wardrobe. It probably has been moved as well. Seems like a loss of quite a bit of storage for a little more floor space.
I totally agree! I always liked the 233 layout. I had wished that they'd make it with a dinette slide, but............. I think if they were to add a couple of feet in lenght to add some counter space and perhaps a wardrobe, would make it more practical.
BTW, do you have any links to outside pics of the one with the rear deck?

RE: Looking to buy a Rockwood Roo...any tips?

Shelbel, welcome to the forum ! ! !
Isn't it exciting looking for a camper! Excellent advice given above! If buying used from a dealer, try to get a warranty included to cover major items at least. If shopping for new then you'd certainly have a warranty to cover many things, and they'd probably not be evident until later on. The best advice that I could give is don't rush your decision. It is a significant purchase and you don't want to have any "regrets". If possible try to do a "walk through" with as many manufacturers and models that you can. An R.V. Show is best for this, but not totally necessary if you have a few dealers in your area to visit! Do your homework (seems like you're already doing that) before talking with the salesman/dealer so he/she doesn't BS you in any way! Have a written list of questions for them and make sure you're satisfied with the answers they give you! Any promises, options or extras they may want to "throw in" NEED to be in writing on the purchase agreement, don't just take their word for it......
Anyway, this may be stray of your original question, but I hope it helps with your camping investment!
Good luck and keep us posted on your progress! There is a wealth of information on this forum, the search bar is a great tool if you want to quickly find an answer!

RE: 3rd Annual NY HTT Rally July 31 - August 2, 2009.

Pardon me asking.... Is Max a retired service dog?
I think Robocop said he was a stray and he's gonna keep him if nobody claims him! He estimates he's only about 6 months old. Jeff, I think Max may be big enough to eat Lacy for a snack by next Rally! lol.... ya might wanna move down a couple more sites or shorten Lacy's leash! lol.....
Jeff, BTW, Wellesley Island S.P. was awesome, we did the Sky-Deck thing and took the Gananoque Boat Cruise, we didn't go on Boldt Island to go through the Castle, but we did tour around the island. We took the 2 1/2 hour tour, the visit with the Castle would have made the total time 5 hours, a little too much with Karenza and Keira! Anyway, you should consider a camping trip to WISP ! Definitely worth it!
